At Iberchem, we understand that each and every one of our actions affects the planet we call home. With every innovative step we take, or for every fragrance that we create, we are committed to addressing the critical environmental challenges facing our world today. Our dedication to sustainability and regeneration drives us to prioritize eco-friendly practices in everything we do.

Operations

We are continually looking to expand our fragrance portfolio using sustainable production methods. We are also actively working to reduce our environmental footprint. In recent years, we have adapted our initiatives to ensure lower water consumption, reduce the waste we send to landfill, and increase our use of renewable energies.

Waste Management

By focusing efforts to help ease the pressing environmental challenges of plastic pollution, AENOR has recognised Iberchem HQ as a centre committed to overcoming the challenges of waste pollution. 100% of our plastic waste is recycled, and 99% of total waste generated by Iberchem is recycled and recovered, giving it a new lease of life. We are striving to do the same in each of our centres around the world.

Energy-saving

We have implemented various strategies to minimize our energy consumption, including motion-detection systems for office lighting and centrally controlled heating and air conditioning systems with temperature settings.

Decarbonisation

As part of our commitment to actively reduce our carbon emissions, we have developed Decarbonisation Roadmaps for each of our manufacturing sites globally. This will ensure our business operations are in line with limiting global warming to 1.5°C and ultimately adhere to Croda's ambition of becoming net zero by 2050.

Water-saving

Water scarcity is becoming a common issue in many of the countries where we operate. To ease the strain, we have ensured 100% of the water used in our HQ production plant is suitable for reuse and is therefore not wasted. Furthermore, over 75% of our facilities are adapted to reduce water consumption, counting on automatic taps, for example. Through our continuous efforts, by 2030 we aim to reduce our water use impact by 50% from our 2018 baseline.

Our innovations are centred around supporting our social and environmental responsibility programme, providing full transparency across the supply chain to deliver innovative olfactive solutions that have minimal impact.

Iberchem’s Green Future

We understand that the essential steps towards regeneration vary regionally as well as across different sectors and applications. It can be complex to identify which solutions are best suited and will make a meaningful difference. As a result, we’ve made it easier for our customers by introducing “Iberchem’s Green Future” seal.

From Ecocert fragrances suitable for use in COSMOS-certified products, to biodegradable fragrances and fragrance technologies, we provide tailor-made options, bespoke to your needs.

VITA Natural Fragrances

Our customers can now also meet increased market demand for natural fragrances with our latest digital innovation, VITA. This resourceful digital assistance tool accurately determines the naturality of fragrances in accordance with the ISO16128 criteria.

This precise naturality data provided by VITA increases transparency and ensures the development of natural fragrances without compromise.

RSPO Certification

Iberchem is actively involved with the industry-led initiative to make RSPO-certified palm oil the norm. Through implementing the global standards for the production and procurement of RSPO-certified palm oil, Iberchem’s HQ manufacturing site can deliver Certified Sustainable Palm Oil (CSPO) materials via Mass Balance.

Iberchem’s Biodegradability Investigation

IB-BI is our internal biodegradability testing laboratory designed to effectively determine the biodegradability of fragrances in accordance with OECD test method guidelines. By improving our biodegradable testing capabilities, we deliver a faster response to our customers, advancing the development of their regenerative fragrance innovations.

People and Communities

We recognise that we have a responsibility towards the communities we work in, and we strive to ensure a positive impact in everything we do. By developing partnerships, we are helping to create supply chains based on ethical relationships, transparency, and human empowerment.

ROOTS

Since its initial launch in Thailand, ROOTS has also launched worldwide, reaching Spain, Colombia, China, and India, and making a positive contribution towards the education of 5,000 children by donating surplus digital devices to the neighbouring communities where Iberchem operates.

The aim of this programme is to narrow the digital divide, that is, to reduce inequality in access to information, knowledge, and education through new technology. We aim to increase accessibility to digital resources to improve education quality globally, regardless of social class or gender.

Responsible Supply Chains

As we work towards a better future for all, Iberchem shares in the common obligation to take responsibility for our impact throughout the supply chain, through collaboration with partners such as NELIXIA, a Guatemalan company that delivers 100% natural, 100% traceable, ethically sourced ingredients. At the same time, we are actively learning and sharing knowledge about natural ingredients whilst ensuring responsible supply chains, which empowers and respects the local communities where production is based.

Sustainability Champions Network

With at least one Champion based at each of our global sites, our international Sustainability Champions Network sparks new ideas and builds new initiatives in their local communities and shares these with our global network to increase engagement, understanding, and communication concerning worldwide regeneration.
