Iberchem is a Spanish multinational fragrance manufacturer of fine perfumery, personal care, home care, and air care products. The company is well known for its efficiency and fragrance creativity. Our broad customer portfolio includes international consumer brands, private label manufacturers, and well-known commercial and niche perfume brands.
The company was founded in 1985 in Murcia, Spain, and is widely recognized for its successful business model, which emphasizes efficiency, flexibility, and ongoing investment in research and development (R&D). The region’s rich culture in raw materials, particularly aromatic plants and citrus fruits, has been a significant source of inspiration.
Over the years, the Spanish company has become a sales leader thanks to its proficiency in adapting to the characteristics of the fast-growing markets it operates in. Since its creation, Iberchem has expanded its business into countries such as China, the Middle East, and Africa, where it has strengthened its brand and increased its sales. Today, it is consolidating its position in Europe and the Americas through synergies with its parent company, Croda International Plc, and in collaboration with the French fragrance house, Parfex.
Since its inception, Iberchem has transformed the fragrance landscape, bringing new creations and technologies to the Consumer Care industry and challenging the existing business models. Under the Green Future label, it also develops sustainable fragrances, adding biodegradable formulations, high-intensity fragrances, and RSPO certification to its repertoire.
Fragrances inspired by the Mediterranean culture
Renowned worldwide for its citrus production, Murcia was the first region in Spain to produce lemons – its current production is more than 600.000 tonnes per year. This reflects one of Spain’s main characteristics in terms of perfume consumption – fresh, citrus aromas are widely used, something quite common in Western perfumery.
Iberchem was also fortunate enough to be launched in a country of outstanding aromatic significance, well known for its abundant natural raw materials. Spain is also the world’s leading producer of aromatic plants used in perfumery, such as rosemary and thyme, and one of the main producers of lavender.
Since 1990, Murcia has also been twinned with the French city of Grasse due to its abundance of raw materials. Grasse is also known as the world capital of perfumery. It is also where Parfex, Iberchem’s sister company, is located.
Iberchem is renowned for how it combines perfumery with other art forms. In recent years, its team has investigated the connections and synergies between perfumery and areas such as cinema, music, photography, visual arts, and even food. Iberchem was among the first companies to host an “olfactory concert” in connection with Murcia’s Symphony Orchestra.
Dubai EXPO 2020
At the Dubai Expo 2020 exhibition, while exploring the Spanish Pavilion, visitors got the chance to discover different scents inspired by Spain’s natural geography – all created by Iberchem’s perfumers. For instance, the main exhibition hall, “The Intelligent Forest”, boasted a fragrance that recalled the northern woods of the Iberian Peninsula. Luz Vaquero, Global Fragrance Creation Director at Iberchem, and Academician at the Academia del Perfume, was also selected to create a perfume exclusively for the Spanish Pavilion.
