Ikigai, an olfactory journey

The Japanese philosophy of Ikigai is a combination of the Japanese words 'iki' (to live) and 'gai' (reason), which together signify "a reason to live." This concept encapsulates the idea of finding joy in life through purpose in a unique way. It blends four fundamental elements: what you love, what you’re good at, what the world needs, and what you can be paid for.
Creating a holistic olfactive experience

The Ikigai collection draws from the structure of Ikigai, at the heart of the fragrance collection. To this end, Iberchem presents four primary fragrances, each of which represents the four essential components of the philosophy.

By layering these four fragrances, a further set of four unique sub-fragrances is created, aligning with the four sub-elements of the Ikigai diagram. Together, these layers evoke the deep connection to “your reason to live” that the Ikigai concept encapsulates, creating a holistic olfactive experience that inspires a journey towards self-realization and balance.

THE IKIGAI COLLECTION

This collection has been carefully crafted by the perfumers at Iberchem. Each perfumer brought their unique interpretation and artistry to the creation of the fragrances.

BEATRIZ HIDALGO kokoro 心

I interpreted the concept of love by simply working with ingredients that I love. My creation is a dense bouquet of white flowers. It is a round and vivid white. I worked with tuberose, jasmine and ylang ylang. I also used some musk and sandalwood as a base and to strengthen the composition.

LUZ VAQUERO nōryoku 能力

One of my greatest skill is to create fragrances, so I wanted to showcase this by crafting a gourmand fragrance that is complex and original. I used some traditional “gourmand” ingredients such as vanilla, caramel and tonka, but I also added ginger and bergamot to give it some spark and some tobacco to make it warmer and sensual.

MARIA FRUCTUOSO hitsuyō 必要

Right now, I think the world needs love and happiness. I embodied this concept by creating a fruity fragrance that is bright and colourful. I combined notes of pear, bergamot, apple, plum and strawberries. I also added some jasmine and sandalwood to tie them all together and also to make the scent richer and creamier.

As a perfumer, I am paid for my creativity and scientific knowledge. This is what I intended to transmit in this fragrance: balance. Fresh and fizzy citric notes of mandarin orange and grapefruit are balanced against the combination of a clear amber with a rich leather and a soft wood that provides depth and strength to the fragrance.
