Iberchem Tunisie : Rafik Machatt, nouveau Directeur Commercial

Titulaire d’un diplôme en commerce international et fort de plus de 22 ans d’expérience, Rafik Machatt a construit une carrière remarquable dans le domaine commercial. Parmi ses nombreuses réussites professionnelles, il a passé huit années fructueuses chez Iberchem Tunisie en tant que responsable du département Cosmétiques et Parfumerie Fine. 

Après une expérience enrichissante de quatre ans en tant que Directeur Général d’une parfumerie de niche tunisienne, il revient aujourd’hui au sein de la famille Iberchem en tant que nouveau Directeur Commercial. Nous avons eu l’occasion de nous entretenir avec lui pour évoquer son parcours et sa vision pour l’avenir.

With a degree in international trade and over 22 years of experience, Rafik Machatt has built a remarkable career in sales. Among his many professional achievements, he spent eight successful years at Iberchem Tunisia as head of the Cosmetics and Fine Fragrances department.  

After four enriching years as Managing Director of a Tunisian niche perfumery, he is now returning to the Iberchem family as the new Sales Director. We had the opportunity to talk to him about his career and his vision for the future.  

Qu’est-ce qui vous a ramené chez Iberchem ? 

La première fois que j’ai rejoint Iberchem Tunisie, c’était purement par hasard : une incursion dans un nouveau domaine où j’espérais grandir et apprendre. Je n’aurais jamais imaginé à quel point cette expérience allait marquer à la fois mon parcours professionnel et ma croissance personnelle. 

Aujourd’hui, il ne s’agit plus de hasard, mais d’appartenance, de gratitude et d’une motivation renouvelée pour relever de nouveaux défis. 

Revenir dans un lieu qui ressemble à un foyer me fait réaliser que ce qui semblait autrefois être une coïncidence peut, en réalité, devenir une opportunité parfaite.

What brought you back to Iberchem?  

The first time I joined Iberchem Tunisia, it was purely by chance: a foray into a new field where I hoped to grow and learn. I never imagined how much this experience would shape both my professional career and my personal growth.  

Today, it is no longer about chance, but about belonging, gratitude and a renewed motivation to take on new challenges.  

Returning to a place that feels like home makes me realise that what once seemed like a coincidence can, in fact, become a perfect opportunity.

Depuis combien de temps Iberchem est-elle présente en Tunisie ? 

Iberchem est présente sur le marché tunisien depuis 35 ans et a été l’une des premières filiales internationales du groupe. 

Depuis sa création, Iberchem Tunisie reste un acteur majeur dans les secteurs des détergents, de la cosmétique et de la parfumerie de luxe, portée par une unité de production avancée. Il s’agit d’ailleurs du premier et unique producteur de parfums et d’arômes (F&F) en Tunisie et en Afrique du Nord, avec des installations capables de répondre aux besoins du marché local ainsi qu’à ceux des pays voisins. 

Au fil du temps, Iberchem Tunisie n’a cessé d’évoluer aux côtés du siège, améliorant continuellement son expertise, sa technologie et sa capacité de production pour accompagner une demande croissante.

How long has Iberchem been present in Tunisia? 

Iberchem has been present on the Tunisian market for 35 years and was one of the group’s first international subsidiaries.  

Since its creation, Iberchem Tunisia has remained a major player in the detergent, cosmetics and luxury perfumery sectors, supported by an advanced production facility. It is also the first and only producer of fragrances and flavours (F&F) in Tunisia and North Africa, with facilities capable of meeting the needs of the local market as well as those of neighbouring countries.  

Over time, Iberchem Tunisia has continued to evolve alongside its headquarters, continuously improving its expertise, technology and production capacity to keep pace with growing demand.  

À quoi ressembleune journée typique chez Iberchem Tunisie ? 

Pour moi, une journée typique chez Iberchem consiste à accueillir ou visiter des clients, tester de nouvelles fragrances et voir chaque projet prendre progressivement vie. Chaque jour apporte son lot d’apprentissage : découvrir une nouvelle note, affiner un accord ou trouver des solutions créatives pour concrétiser la vision d’un client. 

Lancer un nouveau produit parfumé par Iberchem me donne toujours l’impression d’assister à la naissance d’un nouveau “bébé”, une création dans laquelle nous avons investi tant d’efforts, d’espoir et d’amour. 

What is a typical day like at Iberchem Tunisia? 

For me, a typical day at Iberchem consists of welcoming or visiting customers, testing new fragrances and seeing each project gradually come to life. Every day brings new learning opportunities: discovering a new note, refining an accord or finding creative solutions to bring a client’s vision to life. 

Launching a new fragrance always makes me feel like I am witnessing the birth of a new ‘baby’, a creation in which we have invested so much effort, hope and love. 

Quels sont vos principaux objectifs dans votre nouveau rôle ? 

Conscient des défis et des nouvelles contraintes du marché, mon objectif est de renforcer les contributions et les relations de notre unité tunisienne au sein d’Iberchem et du groupe Croda, tout en consolidant notre image de pionnier de l’industrie des parfums et arômes en Tunisie et au Maghreb. Nous visons également à étendre notre présence sur l’ensemble du continent africain, en capturant le maximum de projets et de parts de marché. 

What are your main objectives in your new role? 

Aware of the challenges and new constraints of the market, my goal is to strengthen the contributions and relationships of our Tunisian unit within Iberchem and the Croda group, while consolidating our image as a pioneer in the fragrance and flavour industry in Tunisia and the Maghreb. We also aim to expand our presence across the African continent, capturing as many projects and market shares as possible.
